Our topic for this week – Thoughts of Self. Challenging? Somewhat! In fact, Mary Ellen made a very honest comment today after looking at Psalm 139. She said:
WOW! The hardest part about today’s homework was being asked to view myself from God’s eyes. I believe it was so difficult because I have had such a flawed view of myself for so long. Yet, it was so easy to list the things I didn’t like about myself.
This thought process is typical for most of us, but may I remind you, sweet sisters, that if we accept those thoughts we are not honoring God. If we don’t accept that we are wonderfully made and “four-eight” some of the thoughts we have about ourselves, we are not esteeming His creation and that is much like telling God that what He created just isn’t good enough.
So this week we are going to take a different approach. I said in our study yesterday that I am not going to try to make this a self-esteem builder or motivational talk. Instead, we are going to look at Jesus this week and in light of who HE IS realize who we are in Him.
For the next two days we will be looking at Colossians 1-3. You may download your homework by clicking on the “Homework” button to the right.
Remember to keep focusing on who Jesus is and “four-eight” all those other thoughts!
