Last week I gave you a preview of my new up-coming weekly series, Into the Word Wednesdays. Though IWW doesn’t begin officially until February 3, I want to share with you a little more about the material we’ll be studying together.
The book, Remind Me: A Guide to Remembering HIS Attributes in Your Daily Life, is a study that will allow us to understand more of God’s character. We will focus on one attribute each week, so we can give full attention to each element of God’s character.
The study will consist of a brief introduction, followed by three sections: Research, Rehearse, and Remember. In the Research section, we will read multiple passages of Scripture pertaining to the attribute. Next, we will “Rehearse” each word by answering questions that will help us learn to rest and rely on God in all circumstances. We will also “rehearse” praying that particular attribute of God. Then we will utilize practical activities to help us “Remember” and fully grasp each character of God in our every day lives.
You will find that as you delve deeper into the reality of who God is through the study of His character, your prayer life will become much richer and your prayers much more God-centered rather than centered on your circumstances.
For this week, I encourage you to read Psalm 46. As you meditate on this chapter, I challenge you to make a list of the attributes and names of God used throughout these 11 verse. After making your list, journal a prayer of praise to God for each of these characteristics.
As we countdown to February 3, let’s have a little fun together!
