Today (Thursday) we traveled to Siracusa which is about an hour south of Catania. We toured the Catacomb di San Giovanni (Catacombs of St. John). I discovered that the Apostle Paul visited there after he was shipwrecked at Malta. Three months after he was shipwrecked, they left for Rome but stopped in Siracusa for three days. According to our tour guide, he preached there. See Acts 28:12.
After we left the catacombs, we strolled the streets of Siracusa and had a late lunch. I had the most amazing little rice ball called Arancino (which means little orange). It's a Sicilian novelty – you only get these in Sicily. They are little balls of rice filled with different things (mine had prosciutto and cheese) then they are deep fried! Oh yes!!
We left Siracusa and went over a bridge to another island called Ortigia. It was a lovely little place that reminded me of scenery from the movies. We went to the Piazza Duomo of St. Lucia.
After we toured the church, we had gelato by the sea … literally!
From there we drove back to Catania to pick up some things we needed for tomorrow's women's ministry training. I get to meet the members of the PWOC board in the morning. We will talk about the most important aspects of women's ministry … rice, oranges, Kleenex and chocolate … among other things!
Now it's off to bed for some much needed beauty rest …
Buona notte!

Wow. I hope you have a fabulous time. I love the pictures.
So where is mine?
Amazing! Simply Amazing! Thank you so much for including us in this trip by posting info about the things you know we want to hear about. You are so funny! I do have one question. Which is better gelato or Bruester’s?
Praying for God to do His Mighty Work in and through you both!
