Luke 1:5-7
In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. And he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. And they were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord. But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and both were advanced in years.
Righteous before God, Zechariah and Elizabeth walked blamelessly before the Lord. They were God-fearing, obedient believers; yet they had disappointments and sorrows. There particular sorrow … no baby. Elizabeth was barren and much too old to have a baby now.
Somehow, though, they were able to keep their faith in God. They continued to be righteous before the Lord. They continued to place their faith and hope in their one, true God. Lord, You are faithful! Thank You for keeping your promises. Thank You for making provisions for me daily. Help me obey You today. Help me see things through Your eyes – the eyes of one who works miracles! In Jesus’ name, amen.
